Owner & Founder

Brooke Brinson

Brooke Brinson is the owner & founder of Ed & Ethel’s Fine Jewelry alongside her husband, Chase. She was born & raised right here in the New River Valley – Floyd to be exact. Brooke was a freshman at Virginia Tech when one day, she called her Mom because she needed some money – for what she doesn’t remember but she is guessing, now that she is a little older than 18, it was more of a want than a need. Shauna, her Mom, offered her a part-time job instead! Brooke worked at the jewelry store her Mom managed, part-time throughout college and grew to have a true passion for the industry. After graduating from VT, she decided to continue her career in jewelry, and moved several times with a major jewelry chain for a few years. This eventually led her to Richmond where she met Chase. At first they were rivals as the stores they managed were constantly competing, that grew into a friendship, and eventually they realized they had found their person. Brooke worked for a major jewelry chain for 10 years when she found herself furloughed during the Covid pandemic. She and Chase found out that several chain jewelry stores were closing in the New River Valley. Brooke describes the decision to open Ed & Ethel’s as, “It was as if God said “I will open this door and if you do the work and walk through, I will open the next one” and so we did the work, and he kept opening the next door.”

Now you will find Brooke greeting you as you walk into the store, planning fun events for their customers to come partake in & enjoy, or as the person behind all of Ed & Ethel’s social media platforms! Her favorite part of what she does is you – the customers – getting to know you, your loved ones, and helping you pick out the jewelry to say what is sometimes hard with words, that will be loved today and for a lifetime.

Owner & Founder

Jonathan "Chase" Brinson

Jonathan “Chase” Brinson is owner & founder of Ed & Ethel’s Fine Jewelry alongside his wife, Brooke. He grew up in the Petersburg/Colonial Heights area of Virginia. Chase had begun a career in the car business, after working in the moving business, when he was recruited while shopping at a jewelry store. He thought it was a little crazy but was a sound opportunity from good people. He took the leap of faith and never looked back. After 7 years of working for 2 major jewelry chains, Chase was furloughed due to the Covid pandemic. He had always had a dream of owning his own business and had come to believe that business was meant to be a jewelry store. Meeting and falling in love with his wife solidified that dream as it was what they both knew and loved. Once again, the thought of executing that dream during the pandemic seemed crazy, but also once again, he took the leap of faith.

Once the store was open for business, Chase saw a need in the community that they hadn’t been able to provide – an in-house jeweler. They had found an excellent jeweler to send their repair work to, but the area wanted and needed a trusted, thorough jeweler right here in the New River Valley. Chase started watching every YouTube video & reading every book about becoming a bench jeweler that he could. Once again, God provided a way, as a master bench jeweler had retired to our area and was willing to take Chase on as an apprentice. After lots of education, hands on learning, and attending a world-renowned bench jeweler school – Chase is the in-house bench jeweler he saw was needed. He is happy to help you fix any broken jewelry, do any needed maintenance, refurbish well-loved pieces, and is the custom design aficionado!

Shauna Williams

Shauna Williams is the sales-floor manager, diamond expert, and “Mom” at Ed & Ethel’s Fine Jewelry. While she really is Brooke’s Mom, she is also the “Mom” of the store and if you visit the store, you may hear customers refer to her that way. Shauna is originally from the City of Radford, raised her children in Floyd, and now loves & calls Christiansburg home. Shauna had a long career with a major department store, when she decided it was time for a change. Her Step-Mom had worked in the jewelry industry for decades and had been trying to get Shauna to move into the field. She had always loved jewelry, and seeing that it was in the family, decided she would give it a shot. She managed a jewelry store here in the New River Valley for 15 years, if you recognize her that is probably where from, before the company decided to close her location during the pandemic.

She was a staunch supporter of her daughter and son-in-law executing their dream from the very beginning. She knew they could and should do it, as Moms do, and told them to get off the ground but when they were ready to hire an employee, she would be ready to fill the shoes. She came into the family business full-time in November 2022. Today, Shauna is ready and happy to help you find the perfect gift for your most special people and moments!
